UNISTAR is the result of an intensive development programme and considerable investment by Standen Engineering Ltd into new technologies. UNISTAR offers many advantages as a result of its revolutionary design. Performance testing in the field has demonstrated 30%-50% output gains over existing machines, more in certain conditions.

Inventor of the highly successful MEGASTAR soil separator, the original star soil separator, Dave Weston and Design/Development engineer Richard Troop created the concept and completed the design of UNISTAR. Bringing their considerable experience together with STANDEN engineers they have created a machine offering growers a major step forward with new star technology and much more.

UNISTAR is the first soil separator to use latest STANDEN-PEARSON Star Technology. A rigorous testing programme on many conditions and soil types, in the UK, Ireland, and Spain has proved UNISTAR to have more than achieved its design goals; extremely effective at high forward speeds and with superb reliability over many hundreds of hectares continuous operation.

While it features a unique UNISTAR star (primary separation) and UNDERweb (secondary separation) configuration, at the heart of UNISTAR is an exciting new star design. UNISTAR stars are larger in diameter at 320mm, and considerably more aggressive than previous designs. Manufactured from an advanced hard wearing polymer compound know as DUROPOL, there are 10 rows of stars mounted on heavy-duty shafts in ACTIFLOW formation to spread material across the complete star bed.

Benefits also include superior intake and faster material movement through the machine; bigger diameter stars pull in material and process soil/clods/stones efficiently. The new stars also provide improved clod and soil crumbling for a beneficial cultivating effect to make the most of the soil available.

Optional VARIFLOW web with hydraulic variable speed drive. VARIFLOW enhances performance on undulating terrain, and provides the ability to adjust the aggressiveness of the machine

UNDERweb Secondary Separation - Performance and Versatility Enhancement

UNISTAR - Easy to operate, simple to maintain

OUTPERFORMING THE COMPETITION!

This is UNISTAR - Preparing CARROT beds in Nottinghamshire England, creating high quality deep (16" or 40cm) beds

An ‘UNDERweb’ secondary separator is located beneath the rear six rows of stars, extending to feed clods/stones to the cross conveyor, thereby creating an additional drop and dramatically enhancing separation. So whilst stars effect primary separation, final grading is controlled by the UNDERweb. Thus it is no longer necessary to change star spacers for different requirements; previous star soil separators machines would be specified as 2-spacer machines for clod, or 1-spacer for stone. A simple web pitch change (from 36mm to 50mm can be specified) is all that’s needed.

This all makes UNISTAR a truly universal separator; equally at home on cloddy or sandy soils, or soils with high stone contents. UNISTAR is designed to appeal to growers with existing web, combination, or star soil separating machines as it offers all the advantages of these in one machine. Ideal for contractors or growers with varying soil types, it is also easier to operate by a less skilled operator than previous star machines. Star wear has little effect on bed quality as the UNDERweb controls the final bed finish and soil grading.

UNDERweb (Secondary Separation) extends past the UNISTAR stars, providing a material 'drop' point for extra effective separation

UNISTAR - FRONT WEB OPTION

FRONT WEB FOR VERY STONY SOILS

The option of a front web is now available for UNISTAR 1500, 1600 and 2400 models. Front web replaces the standard smooth steel intake roller and the first four rows of stars

Entering the front of the machine, soil, stones and clods pass over multi-piece shares, straight onto the new web where separation begins. Further processing and aggressive clod crushing then takes place on 6 rows of large diameter polymer stars. Loose and crumbled soil returns to the bed but stones and hard clods are caught by the UNDERweb running beneath the stars and transferred to the rear cross conveyor.

Testing has proven the concept to be extremely effective; with performance in the field around 1 ˝ acres (0.61ha) an hour. Output has the potential to be further improved by increasing the number of spacers between the 6 rows of stars which run above the UNDERweb.

TOOTHED BELT - SMOOTH, QUIET, LOW MAINTENANCE, LOW WEAR DRIVE SYSTEM

UNISTAR features unitary construction (monocoque) with its inherent advantages of high strength to weight ratio, and easy access to all drives and maintenance points. Star shafts can be easily and quickly removed from the side of the machine for maintenance.

Low wear, low maintenance and low noise heavy-duty rubber toothed belt drives are featured throughout the machine. UNISTAR has no chain drives at all.
