Accurate spacing, precision pressing of the seed into the slot created by the coulter opener at a very precise depth means incredibly even emergence results due to positive seed/soil contact.

HERRIAU - A UNIQUE SYSTEM OF PRECISION SEED METERING

INDIVIDUAL SEED SELECTION, SINGULATION, DISTRIBUTION

1. Seeds are sucked on to metering belt perforations by air vacuum
2. A singulator plate ensures that seed bunching and doubles are eliminated
3. Singulated individual seeds are distributed to the coulters at an exact, pre-determined spacing
4. The metering units are land wheel driven, so output is directly proportionate to forward speed

Many different types of seeds can be precision metered by the system which can be easily, quickly and inexpensively adjusted to suit alternative seeds/rates as required. Driven by a tough crown wheel and pinion, the metering units are strong and very reliable, wear is minimal.

PRECISION PLACEMENT

Seeds are blown at high pressure, down the seed tubes through the coulter tips.
Each coulter tip is attached to a large diameter steel press wheel which instantly firms each seed into the groove made by the coulter tip, thereby ensuring positive seed to soil contact.

Opener (coulter tip) is attached to steek press wheel. Photograph shows optional rear mounted depth wheel, a side mounted wheel is standard.

UNIQUE COULTER - SEEDS PRESSED INTO FIRM BASE FOR POSITIVE SEED/SOIL CONTACT

Each row has an opener attached to steel press wheel, and a zero pressure rubber wheel (side mounted or rear mounted). Depth wheels are individually adjustable.

Planted and pressed seeds are covered with loose soil by a spring tine harrow

Seeds are placed equal distance apart, at the desired depth, and firmed in the soil without doubles or bunching.
